Fifteen places. One season.

Hi, we’re the young adults’ group of Keren Hayesod Uruguay. We’re raising money so 15 children on Israel’s northern border, aged 6 to 13, can play football for a full season. We invite you to join us.

We have until 31 December to fill the squad.

Itai’s story

Itai Avrech was struggling at school, with his studies and socially. Eleanor Cohen, his mentor in Nof HaGalil, stayed with him on and off the pitch. This is Youth Futures mentoring, told by them both.

Why the north

The war emptied the towns. The club filled them again.

From October 2023, the northern border lived under Hezbollah fire. Whole towns were evacuated to central Israel. Children spent months away from their homes, their friends and their routines.

With the ceasefire, the Youth Futures Football Club was among the first things to start running again. For these children football is more than a sport: it is where they see their friends again and get a routine back.

Boys and girls play together and, in several communities, so do Jewish and Arab children. Migdal HaEmek, Yokneam, Nof HaGalil, Matteh Asher, Beit Shean, Acre, Nahariya, Emek HaMa’ayanot, Tiberias, Maalot, the Bedouin town of Ibtin and the Druze town of Yarka.

Who we are

The young adults’ group of Keren Hayesod Uruguay

We came together to support the people of Israel after the war and these hard years. We chose to focus on children, because that is where the damage shows least and lasts longest.

Uruguay’s community has been tied to Israel since before Israel existed. For over a century Keren Hayesod has turned that bond into something concrete, and it is the organisation we work with.

Two things matter to us. That you know where every dollar goes: that is why we publish the numbers below. And that the programme is in professional hands: that is why we chose one with twenty years behind it, trained coaches, and educational and psychological support.

Where this leads

Everyone comes with a different background, and you have to treat everyone sensitively. Each child is a world in their own right, and this greatly satisfies and empowers me to be their role model.

Natan Lekau 22 · Migdal Ha’Emek · coach

Natan joined Youth Futures in third grade, describing himself as a “hyperactive and restless child” who struggled to focus in class. Today he plays for the senior side of Hapoel Migdal Ha’Emek and coaches both the boys’ and girls’ teams in his own town. He chose to coach because he knows exactly what these children are going through.

Questions

What people ask us most

Something else? Message us on WhatsApp

What if the squad is not filled?

Everything raised still goes to Keren Hayesod for the Youth Futures Football Club. Every USD 800 is one child’s full season, so each place covered is already a child playing, whether or not we reach fifteen.

Do I have to cover a whole place?

No. You can give from USD 10, and most donations are small. The places fill up with many people chipping in.

How do I know the money gets there?

Payment goes straight from Donar Online to Keren Hayesod-UIA, the receiving entity. Neither this site nor the people organising the campaign ever handle the money. The figures are published under “The numbers”.

Can I give without a card, or another way?

Yes. If you would rather make a transfer or arrange a larger gift, message us on WhatsApp or give us a call and we will sort it out.
